Frazero’s ‘automotive jewellery’ benefits from Dynafix pallets in luxury car interior component production.
There aren’t too many companies like Frazero Limited of Brackley, Northants,
who design and manufacture highly distinctive interior components for the world’s luxury car makers.
Marques such as Bentley, Bugatti, Cadillac, Isuzu, Jaguar, Lincoln, Morgan, Rolls Royce and Spyker have all approached Frazero for unique design solutions to interior elements that are in sympathy with the overall identity and perceived character of their cars.
Quality is the watchword for Frazero and their investment in state-of-the-art production equipment is vital in order to achieve the highest levels of accuracy and finish. The challenge to produce small numbers of components that are equal in all respects is one that Frazero has met.
“For us, large quantities means 50 per month,” explained Anthony Ellis, Frazero’s milling manager, “but because of their intricacy, the press tooling elements required to manufacture them may require machine cycle times as long as 5 to 6 hours. 24-hour working with some unmanned production is part of the service we must give to our customers who mostly operate under J-I-T principles.”

Just over a year ago, Frazero therefore made a significant investment in the purchase of a Mikron HSM 600 U milling machine in which they use Dynafix pallets from System 3R. This 5-axis high-speed machine has a pallet changer with a capacity for 7 pallets – each 280cm square.
“Palletisation is a major part of our milling operation,” continued Anthony. “Whilst the mill is cutting we pre-load the pallets, which significantly reduces machine downtime. It’s an easy to use system - parts are changed in seconds.”
Each marque will have different requirements mostly using aluminium pressed parts – some with decorative surface effects. Frazero also laminate a range of high quality wood veneers onto the metal if required. Some recent contracts include the centre console for Bugatti’s €1 million Veyron; Rolls Royce Phantom’s rear centre console drinks cabinet; the Morgan Aero 8 dashboard; Bentley Continental’s gear change plate and interior components for concept cars shown at major motor shows around the world.

Frazero’s service begins from initial design stages for both concept and low volume production components through to rapid prototyping and trial runs for testing, prior to production. One-off’s are also possible – for example, Rolls Royce had a clock personalised for a very famous comedy actor, thanks to Frazer’s expertise!
The company’s logo is a gecko which is designed to reflect their mission statement of ‘achieving the seemingly impossible’ – something which System 3R is proud to support through the technology of their Dynafix pallet system.
