The major part of Högdalen Produktion & Verktyg AB’s metal-cutting operation consists of parts production, but the company also supplies ‘complete’ products for which it is fully responsible. In addition to the production of parts, these orders include the purchasing of components and final assembly.

A summer cottage? Not at all! This is where the operators can program and prepare the jobs in peace and quiet, without being disturbed by the noise of machines.
Hans Lindstrand took over the company in 2001 and has not only extended its customer base but also developed its high precision machining capability. He also continued the original founder’s policy of developing the expertise of operators with a view to improving quality. In recent years the workforce has grown from 8 to 12, and four machines have been added, creating a range of advanced machines that is well matched to Högdalen’s existing customers.

Hans Lindstrand: “Skilled employees and good equipment which give short retooling set-up times are essential for efficient production”
Hans Lindstrand says – “Some of the new jobs call for frequent retooling which puts a severe strain on our personnel and limits our machine utilisation. From my previous jobs I had good experience of the 3Refix system for rational setting-up and assured quality, so I got in touch with System3R who came and demonstrated the Delphin system, which was completely new to us.

”Soon after that, we saw it in a number of applications at the Göteborg Trade Fair so it didn’t take us long to equip one of our four-axis machines with six Delphin chucks on the table. This configuration gave us several application options – for example, three vices at the same time.”
“The outcome more than lived up to our expectations and a second machine was upgraded with Delphin soon afterwards. One clear advantage of Delphin is that it is easy to adapt existing fixtures and other equipment.”

“There’s an excellent team spirit at Högdalen with no problem about doing an extra shift if the need arises, but I’ve heard it said that only some of the operators’ feel that they have had their work made easier. The others have to work much harder to do as good a job. Of course, this is said with tongue in cheek, but there’s a grain of truth in it, so in the very near future one more machine will be equipped with Delphin,” Hans Lindstrand concludes, with a smile.”
